Hummm.... another 4.2 Earthquake

A 4.2 earthquake in Ojai, California a couple of hours ago. Ojai is 58 miles from Woodland Hills.

This isn't very good news. 2 earthquakes in one week over a 4 magnitude... it's something to keep your eye on.

Several weeks before the 1994 Northridge earthquake there were lots of smaller earthquakes that were in the 3 range of magnitude. These could be foreshocks to a bigger one.

You know we are waiting for "The Big One". A group of scientists and engineers, working with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), released an official forecast of California earthquake probability, and the findings were frightful: They suggest a better than 99% chance of an earthquake measuring 6.7 or greater hitting the state sometime in the next 30 years, and a 46% chance of one posting a 7.5. (The Northridge quake, which claimed at least 60 victims and rang up $25 billion in damage, registered a 6.7.)

Today it's still 100 degrees in Woodland Hills. Has been for quite a few days now. The weather man says that we should cool down into the 80's in a few days.

The air quality still sucks. Santa Barbara is still burning and the smoke has made it's way here.

For those of you who don't live here... yea, the sun is shinning.

The picture is of some earthquake information.

Mercury's in Retrograde

Mercury is in retrograde until the end of May. I have been following Mercury in retrograde for many years now. Usually it occurs 3 times a year. However, in 2009 it will occur 4 times. This is the 2nd time this year.

Usually Mercury in retrograde affects communications and electrical things. Good to have your computers backed up before hand. Double check all contracts before signing. It's usually a good time to sit back and reflect.

However, this Mercury in retrograde is going to be quite different. There will be a lot of major changes happening in our world within the next few weeks. These changes are considered "course corrections for humanity".

Changes are not an easy thing for people. Most people consider themselves creatures of habit and resist change. You were put here to evolve, learn and grow. You cannot evolve, learn and grow if you are standing in the same spot in life. I have written a book entitled "Gardening at Night" to assist people with becoming more comfortable with change. Change is not a bad thing. It's only bad when you resist change.

The key to getting the most out of this Mercury in retrograde is to really listen to your inner voice. We all have an inner voice and an outer voice. The inner voice and yearning are coming from your soul. It is the true voice and the only one that counts. I have also written a book about what happens when you don't listen to that inner voice, your souls calling. It is entitled "When the Soul Cries".

During this month we will all be faced with choices. Choices to follow our inner voice or the outer voice. Those who change their lives and follow the inner voice, their souls calling will be in a much better place next month and in the future. Those who experience the changes and are too busy listening to the outer voices, that they can't hear the inner voices, will have a very rough time. It's time to get real and time to be true.

This is super important this month. If you feel the urge to make major changes in your life this is the month to follow those urges. You need not know why, the reasons will be revealed next month.

BITCHOLOGY

When I stand up for
Myself and my beliefs,
They call me a
Bitch.

When I stand up for
Those I love,
They call me a
Bitch.

When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts
Or do things my own way, they call me a
Bitch.

Being a bitch
Means I won't compromise what's
In my heart.
It means I live my life
MY
way.
It means I won't allow anyone to step on me.

When I refuse to
Tolerate injustice and
Speak against it, I am
Defined as a
Bitch.

The same thing happens when I take time for
Myself instead of being everyone's maid, or when
I act a little selfish.

It means I have the courage and strength to allow
Myself to be who I truly am and won't become
Anyone else's idea of what they think I
'should' be.

I am outspoken,
Opinionated and determined. I want what I want
And there is nothing wrong with that!

So try to stomp on me,
Try to douse my inner flame, try to squash
Every ounce of beauty I hold within me.
You won't succeed.

And if that makes me a bitch.
So be it.
I embrace the title and
Am proud to bear it.

Today I Learned About ATP-ADP

My skin doctor, Dr. Eric Lewis, is an incredible person. He is also very interesting. One of the things that makes him so interesting is that he kinda lives 2 lives at one time.

I have always said that I live "dog years". I can get accomplished in one year what it would take the average person to do in 7 years..lol...lol...

Everyone has a story. I find that people's stories are more fascinating than any fiction you could read or watch.

Dr. Lewis' story is that he only sleeps 2 hours and 15 minutes a night. It is a genetic thing with the males in his family. After the age of 15 they only sleep 2 hours and 15 minutes. He said he goes to sleep at midnight and wakes up at 2:15am.

I started asking him questions and he told me all about ATP & ADP. Which occurs in every living thing. The special thing that occurs in the males in Dr. Lewis' family is called ATPase. Dr. Lewis said that only 1 out of every 20,000,000 families has this.

I asked him, "Do you dream?" And he said, "No." He goes into a dead sleep. He did have dreams up until the age of 15 years old. He said that he still remembers his dreams. He said that he misses dreaming but would not change things if he could. He said that he has lots of hobbies and businesses because of the need to not sleep. When you think of it, you should would have a lot of extra time on your hands.

I asked him, "So Dr. Lewis, I bet you have read a lot of books?" And he said, "No, I have never read a novel. I have dyslexia and so do the males in my family." I asked him how he got through medical school without reading and he said it was very difficult.

I found the whole ATP-ADP thing interesting. To better understand how it works someone made a youtube video (with Fruit Loops) that explains the cycle. Interesting I tell... just plain interesting....

I would not trade my "dog years" for Dr. Lewis' "light years".... I love dreaming way too much.

This is my favorite picture.

Fire Season Has Arrived!!!!

I don't know if the fire season is here early or not.

There is a wild fire burning in Santa Barbara. Currently it has burned 150 acres. Santa Barbara is 1 hour north of Woodland Hills.

The beginning of the year Australia had wild fires burning. It was the worst that they had seen in about 100 years. A friend of mine sent me some pictures with a tag line that said "Like Wow These Fires are Really Bad". My friend also lives in the San Fernando Valley, where I live. I emailed him back and said "Dude, I don't think there is anything spectacular about those pictures. We have fires here that destroy people's homes and lives every year." He emailed back that I had turned into a "Fire Jaded Chick"....lol....lol

Count down has begun to when I roll out of here. Funny, I will be leaving the exact same weekend that I arrived 23 years ago.

The picture of is a mountain on fire.

Cooking

I have decided to cook up the food in my pantry.

My sister was here about a week ago, for a week. We ate every meal out. It was lots of fun going to my favorite places for the last time, for a while.

I was trying to open a jar and was having a difficult time. I remembered a time recently when I was cooking and had a hard time opening a jar. The phone rang and it was my special man in Pennsylvania. I told him I was having a hard time opening a jar and he asked "Why don't you just ask a neighbor to open it for you?" I replied, "Honey I live in LA."

I will write a blog post later about what it is really like to live in Los Angeles.

Right now we are talking about food, Babe! I have literally eaten at restaurants all over the world. I have eaten at the oldest restaurant in Central Europe, Stiftskeller St. Peter, in Salzburg. It has been around since 803. I have eaten at the Citrus in Los Angeles. Which is now closed but definitely the highest end restaurant in Los Angeles.

The only food that I have ever dreamed about is the food that my special man cooks. He is an intuitive cook. He trust his gut and instinct when cooking. He doesn't use recipes. He is truly a gifted cook. One of my favorites is this dish he whips up in the wok that has red onions, sweet potatoes, beats and garlic. Another of my favorites is the way he cooks portabello mushrooms.

I really think that he should own his own restaurant one day. I can see it now.... "Fine Intuitive Dining at Eugene's". The restaurant would be small and elegant. It wouldn't have any menus or set days or hours of operation. You would call when you want to come and listen to the recording which would tell you if the restaurant would be open that evening and what the menu would be. The cost would be $100 a head. You eat what's put in front of you. This would be a restaurant for those with an open mind regarding food. I personally think it would be a big hit.

It doesn't matter where the restaurant is located. If it is good, people will come. One of my favorite steak restaurants is Jacko's in Nipomo, California. Approximately 13,000 people live in Nipomo. There's really nothing to go there for except a golf course and Jacko's. People come from all over the world to eat there. My sister and I had a reservation at 6:00 and we got seated at 6:50pm. I went one time without a reservation and was told there was a 4 hour wait. I didn't wait. I have been there when I was told there was a 2 hour wait and I have waited the 2 hours. It is not uncommon to see a ton of people waiting outside of Jacko's who are waiting 2 hours to eat. Jacko's is not a fancy place. They have aluminum tables and chairs. The prices are super reasonable and the steaks are to die for.

By the way, what you do when you can't get a jar open in LA, is to go back to the store with it. I can't even tell you the amount of times I have done this. I go up to the manager and say "I want to return this. I can't open it." If the manager is a woman she will look around and usually some young guy will be around to open my jar. I then look at him and say "Thanks Dude."

The picture is of spaghetti.

Earthquakes

Well, I definitely won't miss the earthquakes!!!!

I was sitting here getting ready to open my laptop and write a post about the swine flu and all of a sudden I heard a rumble and my cats sat up in the bed and then I noticed the room was swaying and the cats jumped off of the bed and got under the bed and the swaying continued so I decided "I had better get in the doorway, this could be a foreshock to something bigger." And before I got the doorway it stopped.

I immediately called my sister to tell her I was okay. The last thing I want is her to turn on the television and see that there was a 4.4 magnitude earthquake in Los Angeles. It was actually in Malibu is 24 miles from Woodland Hills.

You know what? I am going to be a much happier person once I move. I plan on being so relaxed and chilled. In one year people won't even recognize the person that I will be. No more worries, that's the ticket.

Well, if you didn't notice someone "anonymous" person has used my blog to post his long ass views on the state of the world and everything in it. He posted the same shit on my last two post. Way to go Dude. Spreading his shit on other peoples blog, I wonder if he is spreading his freakin seed that easily.

The picture is of an earthquake seismograph.
